If you've see my dailymile page lately, you've see my latest note about a contest I won. A friend of mine is a member of the new CrossFit gym near my house. I've been thinking about checking it out. I asked her about it before I decided if I wanted to go in and check it out in person. She had great things to say about CrossFit, so I decided to check it out once my work schedule got back to normal.
A week or two later, I received an email from the CrossFit friend about a contest they were having. Each member could nominate 2 people to win a 3 month FREE pass. Those people had to submit an essay explaining why they wanted the free pass. So I thought, what is there to lose?
I submitted my essay last Wednesday and checked my email obsessively until yesterday. There it was: " Hi Megan, I'm *******, the owner of CrossFit ****. I'd like to congratulate you on a great essay for the contest. It got you one of the FREE 3 month memberships....."
The first sound that came out of my mouth was some sort of loud squeal.
Was this for real??? I never win ANYTHING. Seriously!?
I was literally jumping up and down in utter excitement.
Tomorrow I meet my trainer, make a plan of what I'd like to accomplish over the next three months and then do my first workout! I'm really excited for the opportunity. This is exactly what I needed to get myself to where I want to be.
Another cool thing about this contest? There's 4 of us who won free memberships. We'll earn points as the month goes by and at the end, one of us will win another free month! I love a challenge!
I'm not completely sure where running is going to fit into my schedule at this point, but I'm not ready to write it off yet. I'm going to be flexible and take advantage of what the next three months brings me. So, while my blog may not be 100% about running anymore, there's no doubt that I'm still "Meg In Training."
I hope everyone will enjoy the coming three months, because after watching youtube videos of bad ass chicks doing CrossFit..... I know its going to be a wild ride. Hopefully by February, I can be one of those girls.
Fyi - music in this video contains profanity. Would we expect anything less from Kanye? Really?
